📖Document Translator Guide

Upload a PDF, Word, PowerPoint or text file — or paste text directly — and get an accurate translation, shown side by side with your original so you can check it at a glance.

When to use this

Use this whenever you need a document or block of text translated into another language: a contract from a foreign client, a report you need to understand, or a CV you want to send abroad.

Step-by-step workflow

  1. 1Add your document Upload a PDF, Word, PowerPoint or text file, paste text directly, or continue with the document already active in your workspace.
  2. 2Pick source and target language Source language is detected automatically by default — or set it yourself and use the swap button to flip source and target. Choose from a full, searchable list covering dozens of languages, including Yoruba, Hausa, Igbo, Swahili, Amharic, and other African languages.
  3. 3Choose Fast or Accurate Fast for a quick, direct translation, or Accurate for slower, more precise wording and sentence flow.
  4. 4Translate, then download See the translation appear next to your original, then copy it or download it as .txt, .pdf, or the document's native format (.docx or .pptx).

Tips for best results

  • If your PDF is a scanned image rather than a real digital file, run it through OCR PDF first — Document Translator (like any text tool) needs real, selectable text to work with, not a picture of text.
  • For a Word document, formatting — headings, bold/italic/underline, lists, tables, hyperlinks, and images — carries over into the translated .docx automatically. There's nothing to turn on.
  • Use Accurate mode for anything formal — a contract, a CV, an official letter — where getting the wording right matters more than getting it back instantly.
  • The source language only needs to be set manually if auto-detection guesses wrong on a short or ambiguous piece of text — for most documents, leaving it on Detect automatically works well.

Common mistakes to avoid

  • Uploading a scanned or photographed document and expecting it to translate — there's no real text underneath a scan for this tool to read; OCR PDF first turns it into real, translatable text.
  • Expecting a translated PDF to keep the exact original page design — PDF translation rebuilds a clean, readable document from the translated text, not a pixel-identical copy of the original layout. Word documents keep their real structure; PDF does not yet.
  • Translating a very long document in one pass without skimming the result — spot-check the translation, especially names, numbers, and technical terms, before sending it on.
